Greenburn Local Rules - Updated Feb 2026

1. Out of Bounds: Defined by white markers or fences bounding the course. (a) In or beyond any
fence. (b) In or over the burn between the 4th and 18th holes while playing the 4th hole. (c) Over
the burn between the 18th and 4th holes while playing the 18th hole. (d) The practice area. (e) Car
park. (f) The clubhouse while playing the 18th hole. In or beyond the burn at the back of the 6th
green.

2. Water Hazards: Rule 26-1. As defined by yellow posts or markings.

3. Lateral Water Hazards: Rule 26-1. As defined by red posts or markings.

4. Fixed Sprinkler Heads: Rule 24-2. Sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and relief for
interference by them may be obtained.

5. Roads and Paths: Rule 24-2. A ball coming to rest on all roads or any paths through the course
may be lifted and dropped as per Rule 24-2b. When playing the 5th hole, if the ball comes to rest on
the path leading up to the green on the right-hand side, relief may be taken in the designated drop
zone.

6. Young Trees: Rule 24-2. Young trees are those which are staked, encased in a protective
covering or under one club length in height. Relief MUST be taken.

7. Bridges: Rule 24-2. A ball coming to rest on any part(s) of a bridge within the hazard, relief may
be taken.

8. Power Lines: Rule 20-5. If a ball strikes an overhead power line, the player must disregard the
stroke and play his next stroke from where that stroke was played.

9. Stones in Bunkers: Rule 24-1. Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions.

10. Ground Under Repair: Rule 25. If a ball comes to rest in an area marked by (a) GUR sign, (b)
marked by white line, (c) marked by blue posts, relief MUST be taken.

*11. Distance Markers: *Rule 24-2. Relief for interference by them may be obtained.

12. Pylons and Stanchions: Rule 24-2. Relief for interference by them may be obtained.

*13. Distance Measuring Devices: *A player may obtain distance information by using
a measuring device that measures distance only.
Penalty for Breach of Local Rule: Match-play – Loss of hole. Stroke-play – Two strokes.
Other Information

*Distance Markers: *A red disk in the fairway marks 200 yards from the centre of the green; a yellow
disk in the fairway marks 150 yards from the centre of the green; a white disk in the fairway marks
100 yards from the centre of the green.

Suspension of Play: One loud blast on klaxon – Suspension of play. Two loud blasts on klaxon –
Cancellation of play.
